Chasing a German Dreadnought in WW1
The thick mist hid the clouds that raced across the grey winter sky... the oily waves rolled with ever increasing ferocity, as the long sleek cruiser battled her way onwards, and there was a faraway look in the Captain’s eye as he thrust the wheel a bit more to the left with a movement born of habit. There was danger in the air. He could smell it!
Captain G. Johnson of Her Majesty’s Royal Navy was on a mission… he was hunting for a German Dreadnought seen in the vicinity several hours ago. If the mist would clear, there would be a greater chance of locating her.
The First Mate, Harry Clark stumbled onto the Bridge. “Sir,” he said. “If this mist holds, we aren’t going to have any success… in fact we shall be taking a risk ourselves.”
Johnson replied, “I agree Harry, but duty calls. All of England depends on us and what we do. We must press on, and trust that the Almighty will look after us.”
"But what if we run into the German?” questioned the First Mate.
“If that happens,” said the Captain, “Just pray that you have your eternal destiny in order… for there is no certainty we shall see tomorrow. Our families may never see us again this side of the great divide. I for one know that if I fail to survive this day, I shall meet my precious family in Glory."
