An Ideal Day
The true story... of an ideal day in my Life
The curtains blew back and forth at the open window and outside a Bumble Bee could be heard buzzing among the Foxgloves. The man in the bed opened one eye and then closed it again… just another few minute’s sleep he thought.
Suddenly there was a crashing sound outside. He gave a huge sigh and sat up. Sure enough… the rest of the family were awake, so he could not be lazy and sleep in… besides, he had just remembered that this was to be the ideal day… and day when he could have his day just the way he had always dreamed.
Dressing quickly the man was hummed happily. It didn’t take him very long to get ready to go. He gulped down a drink of hot milk before heading out to take his dog for a quick run down the beach.
As he stepped outside he looked up at the sky. Yes! It was going to be a real bonanza day! Calling Jessie he made his way down to the river and long the beach. Walking along in the clear sunshine he sang praises to the Lord for such a perfect day.
Around 45 minutes later the man returned happy but breathless with an equally tired dog. After putting the dog back in her run he when inside the house to change into his going out clothes.
After kissing his mother goodbye and saying cheerio to the rest of the family he picked up the picnic basket and thermos flask and went out to the garage and climbed into his car. It started easily as the morning was warm and he chugged out down the driveway, giving a couple of hearty toots on the horn as he left. This man always had a bad habit of making a noise when leaving home!
As he drove along his street he put on his sun-glasses as the sun was bright, and then reaching down turned on the CD player and wound up the sound.
Singing along with the music he was very contented. This was really a wonderful day and he was in a very happy mood.
He was going to spend the day travelling around visiting all the second hand shops and thrift shops to look for bargains. The man had heard there was an auction in a distance town, so if he had time he would attend that. He liked auctions... even though it often meant travelling home with a loaded car! If there was time available he wanted to call into a couple of the Sport Shops to see if there were any classic firearms going cheap.
This man was a pretty easy going soul… with an extremely wide interest. It didn’t take much to make him happy.
Many people like to sit on the beach in the sun, or go for walks in the bush… or even window shop in the cities, but this man was not like that. When on own he found it far too boring and lonely doing these things. When with his family it was different. When he was with company it was the other people that made things interesting.
That night the man I am talking about crawled into his bed a very tired but satisfied fellow. As he lay there before drifting off to sleep he thanked the Good Lord for such a successful and interesting day.
There was a contented smile on his face as he closed his eyes and drifted
off into Dreamland…
