Journey to Heaven
I have been asked what was it that hurt the man so badly
that he became a hermit. Well, I will try and explain…
To relate this to you, I must do a little dance on my
keyboard, so here goes. Let the dance begin!!!
that he became a hermit. Well, I will try and explain…
To relate this to you, I must do a little dance on my
keyboard, so here goes. Let the dance begin!!!
One spring day in a faraway land across the sea stood a pretty young girl watching the lambs play in the meadows. Among the daisies beside were her younger sisters and brothers. The little ones were making daisy chains. They were all happy and contented. Not one of the group realised then what was in store for each of those little lives, but God knew!
As the years passed, this young girl grew up and had many friends. She was as dainty and as slender as a silver vase. People would glance at her and smile saying, “Now there goes a pretty young lady!” Although always kind hearted the girl didn’t know the Lord as her best friend. The little lady was always out exploring, camping and enjoying life to the full with friends as family. She loved the outdoors and nature, and was often out roaming the wilderness area near her home. She knew the area very well, and although she got into tight corners as times she was always lucky enough to get out… however one day whilst out exploring she had the misfortune to slip into a ravine and damage her back. Unable to get out of the gully she had fallen into, the young woman recalled how there was a God who cared for her and would protect her when in trouble. As she lay there she called upon her maker to save her both physically and spiritually.
“Please God,” she prayed. “I haven’t had much time for you in the past, but I’m sorry. I have been awfully naughty, but I realise now that I need you to help and guide me through life. Please come into my heart and be my Lord and King. And please God, if you don’t mind, could you send someone to find me? It’s terribly cold and damp here… and oh, my back does hurt Lord. Can you do something… if you don’t mind??
Five hours later a search party found her. Yes, and found her with a totally changed heart too.
It didn’t take very long for this new Christian to learn to love the Lord, and to want to do his will. She became very forthright and outspoken. Her friends changed. She lost her closest worldly friends, and gathered round her people the Lord would be pleased with.
And so time continued to proceed. One day this young Christian lady met a young man who was unsure of his faith. The young lady explained to him about what Jesus did for every one of us at Calvary, and how each can have this free give if only we accept and turn away from our sins. The young man knew when his new friend spoke it was the truth. He opened the little door on his heart and beckoned to Jesus to hop right inside!
The young couple fell in love (as they say in books) and eventually got married. They had a family and because of problems in their country finally decided to move to another… for a better life for their children.
But the choice was a hard one to make. They had to leave friends and family and move to another country to start a brand new life among people who might be unwilling to have them. It would be a voyage into the unknown. Could they do it? Was it worth it? They took it to God in pray… and he said, “My children, unless you give-up everything you cannot follow me.”
So they packed up their things and travelled to a new land. With barely a suitcase between them they arrived, strangers in a foreign country… with no-one they knew except the Lord.
As they settled into their new home they looked for Christian friends. But they found the people in this new country were not as open to God as their homeland. People found them weird and strange. They were hurt by the things so-called believers said to them. Harsh words were passed… cruel words that cut to the bone. After the accident the woman had encountered which damaged her back, she had become less active, and not being able to exercise as much, she felt she didn’t look as pretty as she once was. She was always worried people would point it out. But it was all in her mind. Instead of taking the problem to the Lord she played with it in her mind. We all do this at times… and it takes someone else to show them it’s not true.
Anyway the family were deeply hurt by the actions of the people in the new country… people who would tear them down for no good reason. In the old country black was black and white was white to the people there. In the new country they found themselves in, this wasn’t the case. People in the new land disliked people being so forthright and outspoken.
This made it so hard for the family to fit into the country they had embraced. After finding people shun her, the Mother decided one day that she must get rid of her outspoken manner… but how was she to do so? She came from a country where people preferred a forthright person.
So one day Mummy decides to go to Bible College to learn how to speak to the people of this new country. She attends to college, and learns a lot of things about what to say and how to say it.
But one day God steps in and says, “My dear, I want you black and white. I was black and white when I was on earth. I made you outspoken for a reason. Whenever I need you to speak as soft as a Dove, I will give you the words and the manner to say it. Trust me my child, I made you and know what is best for you. Don’t let the ruler of this world spoil what I have created.
“It’s time now for you to have some real friends… a Christian family who is just like you. They won’t be unkind or say hard words. I know a family in the next town. I will arrange it so you meet.”
It wasn’t long before the Lord put this troubled woman in touch with the other Christian family. They also had problems they were trying to solve. Finally they all had Christian friends to be able to learn and share with.
And so, the years passed and the days passed. The two families grew in the Lord. The day finally came when the woman who had by this time become very old, passed to her rest.
The frail little lady passed through the gate, and an Angel welcomed her. “Just go through there,” he said.
She passed down a passage and into a long corridor… at the end of which stood a huge throne. Angels stood at either side as a kind of guard of honour. She walked up to the throne and looked into the face her Lord. “Well done my child,” he said with a beautiful smile. “It’s been a hard long road, but you made a success of it. I am well pleased with you.
“Look dear one, look over there.”
The woman glanced towards where the Lord was pointing… and standing there was her friends and family who had gone on before her. With a cry of glee she rushed into their arms and they swung her round in delight. The Lord watched them as they frolicked with a look of incredible love and warmth upon his face.
Are you one of those friends?????
