Violets for Mother
As I sauntered happily down the windy lane
Through the shady glades and quiet sunlit dells
I smiled and thanked the Lord for bearing my pain
Throwing my head back I shouted with glee
As I remembered the times when I gave up all hope
With joyful cry I gave thanks to the Lord for carrying me
My heart raced, my eyes shone… t’was Gods grace
That abundant love through faith in Jesus Christ
That had bought a smile to my aching face
Round a bend in the rocky windy way
A little clump of Violets bloomed
A sight so pretty and sweet they made my day
I stooped to pick a posy
A pretty smile came to mind
My mothers face I wanted to make all rosy
When troubles come always remember
Winter follows close behind summer
And now it is past the end of December
